Job Description
In this role, the successful candidate will need to,
- Be a resource for Brookfield in the Middle East to assist with management of legal issues generally, including, being a point of contact for Middle Eastern legal queries
- Work on all legal and regulatory matters in relation to the management of investments activity through Dubai, including working closely with the various business, finance and cosec functions;
- Support and take an active role in various group projects across the Middle East
- Assist with drafting and reviewing various commercial agreements, including service provider agreements and engagement letters
- Assist with corporate structuring, fund flows, reorganisations and entity management, including drafting and/or reviewing legal documents and resolutions and assisting with diligence to support corporate and tax restructuring matters
- Support the Legal & Regulatory Counsel in the region managing the regulatory function for Brookfields Asset Management business in the Middle East and assist in providing legal and regulatory advice relating to licensing, marketing and other regulatory issues
- Draft and review such agreements, documents and other necessary paperwork that is essential to support the above-described functions
- Work closely with colleagues across Brookfield offices and with external advisors, as needed in relation to the above-described functions; and
- Undertake all such activity as would be needed to successfully perform their role and add value to the team
The position would involve providing support to the regional M&A counsels working on transactions in Asia and others from a UAE law perspective and coordinate with investments, finance, secretarial teams to support the investment and portfolio management process.
It would be an added benefit if the candidate has prior exposure to the regulatory and compliance related aspects of fund vehicles, fund management agreements, reinsurance, trusts, cross border tax considerations, trusts and pooling vehicles.
Experience Required:
- Experience as a paralegal in the general corporate and regulatory space at one or more top tier law firms or in house.
- Proven track record of working successfully with teams.
- Independently handling corporate projects and multi-tasking within tight deadlines.
- While it may not be a determining factor, having experience in fund management legal and regulatory matters and familiarity with private fund structures, will be taken into account.
